Our Staff

In addition to being licensed insurance agents, all of our licensed professionals have achieved industry designations in an effort to achieve the greatest degree of knowledge and professionalism. These include the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) and Certified Benefits and Wellness Associate (CBWA).

Ryan MillerRyan T. Miller, CIC, CWCA – President (Certified Work Comp Advisor)
As a 25-year veteran ins the insurance industry, I enjoy working with clients to look beyond the transaction of insurance and embrace the competitive advantages gained by implementing strategic risk management practices. My TRIO (Turning Risk into Opportunity) process identifies an organization’s largest risk and turns it into an opportunity to increase productivity and reduce overall costs. I am a Certified Insurance Counselor and a Certified Work Comp Professional specializing in Cyber and Workers Compensation. When not at work, I enjoy skiing, participating in shooting sports and searching for shellfish with my wife and two daughters.

Karen Decker, CIC – Business Solutions
After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I became a licensed agent in California in 1987. Moving to Oregon in 1992, I worked in the surplus lines side of the insurance business and worked for a wholesaler for the following 17 years. I now enjoy working in the independent agent side once again. Away from the office, I love being my husband’s wife and my daughter’s mother. We keep busy following our daughter’s sports and being involved with our church.

Jim RuizJim Ruiz, CIC – Personal Insurance
I have been a licensed insurance agent for 16 years and in 2008 I earned my designation as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). I am active in the community (2014 Tualatin Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year) serving on the board of directors for the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce and Tualatin School House Pantry. I am also a coalition member with Tualatin Together. When not at work I enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing and actively participating at church with my wife and son.

Amy's PhotoAmy Howe, CISR – Personal Insurance
After being a stay at home mother of three kids for 10 years I was ready to get back in the work force! I started in Insurance when I was able to find part-time employment and still get home in time for the kids to get off the bus. I have grown to love the industry and am excited to be a part of Miller Insurance, a company that is close to home and finds ways to give back to people in its own community. More than anything I love a good book, but I also enjoy working in the yard, hiking and camping with family and friends.

Jennie Dean – Personal Insurance
I enjoy helping others and my mindset is to always find the best, most effectual way of getting things done. I am excited to join the Miller team and advance my career with a company that has long proven its support to the community. In my down time, I enjoy anything outdoors, reading, gardening, yoga and building Lego’s with my son.

Leslie ThomasLeslie Thomas, CBWA – Employee Benefits
Servicing clients is a consistent theme of my professional career and one that is not taken lightly.  Including the most recent Federal reforms, we continue to advance and pursue new ways to educate, communicate and connect with our clients and the community. My personal time is spent with my husband and three children, and our varied interests in education, school athletics, primitive camping, skiing, cycling, urban chicken farming and personal wellness.

Sally BarrowSally Barrow – Accounting
In 1989 I was invited to join the staff at Miller Insurance as the in-house Accountant. Clarke Miller was owner of the agency at that time. My 26 years as the accounting person has been a terrific ride, so much so that at age 81 my job is still something I look forward to, only 3 days a week now but still just as much fun. I don’t have a lot of one-on-one with our clients but I am always willing to direct them to the right department. I highly recommend seniors keep working and expand their knowledge whenever possible.
